Welcome!
I'd love to tell you about a few things that set our support apart...
Over 2,000 Babies and Children Helped (& Counting!)
Understanding and improving your little one’s sleep can be incredibly daunting, whether you’re a first time parent or veteran. Together we can explore why your baby or child struggles with sleep and create a customized, step by step plan to reach your goals.
Whether you have a newborn and want to create healthy habits from the start or have a baby, toddler or school age child who is chronically or suddenly struggling with sleep, we can help.
We’ve supported hundreds of families in and around the Greater Philadelphia area and across the globe - including many LGBTQ parents and alternative family systems - to get their family’s sleep back on track. If you would like to celebrate your sleep again, we would love to support you.
We can work with you virtually, regardless of your location. If you are ready to get started, you can do so using the options and instructions below. If you are on the fence about sleep support, feel free to read what families are saying, view our frequently asked questions, or book a discovery call to learn more about our approach and which option may be the best fit.

What Can We Address Together?
Together we will explore the "why" behind your baby, toddler, preschooler or school age child's sleep struggles and compare the pros and cons of the paths you can take to get from where you are now to where you want to be. Rather than a one size fits all, cry it out solution, we will collaborate on a plan that fits your parenting style and your child's temperament. Common issues we help families tackle include:
* Coaching around the possibility of underlying medical issues with applicable recommendations/resources
* Understanding and maximizing newborn sleep and coping with newborn crying
* Needing to be in arms/on the breast or bottle/have a parent present to fall and return to sleep
* Bedtime and nap battles
* Frequent night waking
* Short and skipped naps
* Transitions sleep schedules
* An early rising habit
* Reducing or eliminating overnight feeds
* Transitioning from crib to bed
* Bedtime stalling & delayed sleep onset
* Dropping the nap altogether
* Fear of the dark, nightmares/night terrors, separation anxiety, headbanging
* School age children struggling to fall or stay asleep
* ...And more!
Hi! I'm Erica Desper, senior sleep and potty-training consultant and the founder of Confident Parenting. I've been helping families get more sleep and tackle potty-training since 2011 and, in that time, we've been privileged to help over 2,000 babies and children in and around the Greater Philadelphia area, across the states and internationally to sleep soundly so their parents can too. As the sleep specialist for Center City Pediatrics and with a growing army of grateful parents in the community, it became clear that, as just one person, I couldn't support everyone. And our team was born!...
Bernadette is a Mother of two young children and brings over 12 years of experience working with families as a professional nanny to our team. Her desire to continue to help parents navigate common parenting challenges led her to join the Confident Parenting team in 2020, training and being mentored for over one year with Erica as well as receiving her Oh Crap! potty-training consultant certification with Jamie Glowacki, The Poop Lady, herself. To date she has worked with the parents of over 300 babies and children to address sleep and potty-training challenges and has wracked up loads of her own glowing testimonials. In 2022 and 2023 she received the designation of Certified Lactation Counselor and completed Dr. Laura Markham's Peaceful Parenting Training for Parent Educators.
Amelia is Mom to one young child, holds a bachelors degree in psychology and brings over 4 years of experience working with children in the daycare and therapy settings. In 2021 she joined the Confident Parenting team, training and being mentored for over one year with Erica, receiving her own Oh Crap! certification and working toward certification as a lactation counselor. She is also auntie to several children with varying special needs, all of which led her to gain additional experience and training to be able to support children with delays, disabilities and neurodivergence to navigate the potty-training process, completing the Autism Action Plan course led by Molly Johnson, the Autism Consultant. Families navigating the process with special needs have been extremely grateful to finally have somewhere to turn for support.
Meet Dr. Brown
Confident Parenting is excited to be collaborating with Dr. Funke Afolabi-Brown, a PENN-trained and triple-board-certified sleep medicine physician with over a decade of experience and one of the few board-certified pediatric and adult sleep physicians worldwide.
Our Until You Reach Your Goals package includes a 60-minute medical coaching call* with Dr. Brown to explore any concerns you have before implementing the plan and to screen for the possibility of underlying medical issues that may need to be evaluated and treated in order to achieve your sleep goals.
*Please note that this coaching call is advisory and does not constitute a medical diagnosis. If Dr. Brown recommends bloodwork, a sleep study, or any related medical treatment, those are not included in your package and you would pursue those recommendations outside of Confident Parenting.
